1988 Masterpieces in Silver Proof Set

In 1988 the Royal Australian Mint struck and released its first Masterpieces in Silver set, the 1988 Bicentennial set. As the first of what was to become an annual series, this four-coin sterling silver set was struck to commemorate the Bicentennial year of European settlement in Australia. The set comprised of a sterling silver 50¢, a $1, a $2 and a $5 coin, all dated 1988 and all struck to Proof quality.
